Fertility basics
Trying to conceive describes the period of deliberately attempting pregnancy, commonly abbreviated to TTC in forums and apps. Clinicians count it from when contraception stopped and regular unprotected sex began, because that duration is what determines when investigation is offered. Sex every two to three days across the cycle is generally as effective as trying to pinpoint ovulation exactly, and much less stressful.
