ICSI

A single sperm is injected directly into an egg during IVF.

IVF & IUI

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection is used mainly where sperm number, motility or morphology are low, or where conventional fertilisation has previously failed. It addresses fertilisation, not egg quality, so it is not routinely beneficial where sperm parameters are normal.
