Fertility basics
Implantation begins around six to ten days after fertilisation, when a blastocyst hatches from its shell and attaches to the endometrium. Only after implantation does hCG rise enough to be detected. Most failed cycles fail here, usually because of embryo chromosomes rather than anything the person did.
