Letrozole lowers oestrogen briefly, prompting the pituitary to release more FSH and stimulate a follicle. Canadian and international evidence supports it as first-line for ovulation induction in PCOS, with higher live birth rates than clomiphene in that group. It is taken for a few days early in the cycle, with monitoring as the clinic directs.
