PCOS is diagnosed when at least two of three features are present: irregular or absent ovulation, clinical or biochemical signs of raised androgens, and polycystic-appearing ovaries on ultrasound, with other causes excluded. Most people with PCOS can conceive, often with ovulation induction. Insulin resistance, weight, mental health and long-term metabolic risk are part of care too.
