Under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021, donor eggs, sperm and embryos may only be supplied to ART clinics through an ART bank registered with the appropriate authority. The ART bank is responsible for donor recruitment, eligibility checks, screening and record-keeping, and for supplying screened gametes/embryos to registered ART clinics for use in patient treatment; clinics themselves are not permitted to recruit donors directly.
