The ART (Regulation) Act, 2021 prohibits a number of practices, including offering ART procedures through an unregistered clinic or bank, sex selection, abandoning a child born through ART, and advertising that makes misleading claims about success rates or outcomes. Breaches can carry penalties under the Act. Patients who are offered a service that sounds like one of these prohibited practices — for example, any suggestion that the sex of a future child can be chosen — should treat this as a serious concern and can report it to the Appropriate Authority.
