When gametes or embryos need to move between one registered ART clinic or ART bank and another — for example, when a patient changes clinic or when a clinic sources donor gametes from an ART bank — the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021 and Rules require this to be documented, consented to, and traceable, and to take place only between registered facilities. Patients arranging such a transfer should ask both facilities to confirm registration status and to explain, in writing, what documentation and consent is required, rather than assuming an informal arrangement between clinics is sufficient.
