The antral follicle count is made on a transvaginal ultrasound, usually early in the cycle, by counting the small fluid-filled follicles measuring roughly 2 to 10 mm in both ovaries. Together with AMH it is one of the best predictors of how the ovaries will respond to stimulation. The count varies a little between cycles and between people scanning.
