Fertility basics
In a natural or lightly stimulated cycle one follicle usually becomes dominant, growing faster than the rest and going on to ovulate while the others regress. In IVF the aim is the opposite: to grow a cohort of follicles together, which is why dose and timing are adjusted so closely.
