Endometrial thickness is measured in millimetres on a transvaginal scan and is used, together with the lining's pattern, to judge whether the womb is ready for embryo transfer. It naturally thickens through the follicular phase. It is only one of several factors influencing implantation, so the number alone does not predict success.
