Female fertility
Genital tuberculosis is TB affecting the fallopian tubes, endometrium or pelvis. It can follow lung TB, sometimes years later, and may cause few symptoms while scarring the tubes or damaging the womb lining. Because TB remains common in South Africa, specialists here consider it in women with tubal damage, a thin or scarred lining or unexplained infertility, particularly with a past TB history. Treatment is the standard TB regimen; any resulting scarring is managed separately.
