HyCoSy (hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography) checks whether the fallopian tubes are open by watching contrast pass through them on ultrasound, without X-rays. It also shows the shape of the uterine cavity. Cramping similar to period pain is common, and clinics usually advise taking simple pain relief beforehand. It is an alternative to an HSG where available.
