A hydrosalpinx is a fallopian tube that has become blocked and filled with fluid, often after infection, endometriosis or surgery. The fluid can leak back into the womb and reduce the chance of an embryo implanting, so specialists commonly recommend treating the tube — usually by removing or clipping it — before IVF.
