Ovarian torsion is a rare complication in which an enlarged ovary twists and cuts off its own blood supply, causing sudden severe one-sided pelvic pain, often with nausea and vomiting. The risk is slightly higher when ovaries are enlarged after stimulation. It needs immediate hospital assessment, because prompt surgery can save the ovary.
