Thrombophilia testing looks for inherited or acquired tendencies to form blood clots. It is not recommended for everyone: guidelines support testing for antiphospholipid antibodies after recurrent loss, while routine screening for inherited thrombophilias in unexplained infertility is not supported by good evidence and can lead to treatment with no proven benefit. Ask what a positive result would actually change.
