Recurrent pregnancy loss is generally defined as two or three or more consecutive miscarriages and warrants investigation. Tests may include parental karyotypes, antiphospholipid antibodies, thyroid function, blood glucose and assessment of the uterine cavity. In many couples no cause is found, and even then the chance of a future successful pregnancy remains reasonable with supportive care.
