Female fertility
Unexplained infertility is diagnosed when ovulation, semen analysis and tubal tests are all normal but pregnancy has not happened. It does not mean nothing is wrong; it means standard tests cannot detect the problem, which may involve egg or sperm quality, fertilisation or implantation. Options usually discussed include continuing to try for a defined period, IUI with ovarian stimulation, or IVF, which also provides diagnostic information about fertilisation.
