Basal body temperature

Waking temperature, which rises slightly after ovulation.

Cycle and ovulation

Basal body temperature rises by around 0.3°C after ovulation because of progesterone, and stays higher until the next period. Charting confirms ovulation has happened in retrospect but cannot predict it in advance, so it is more useful for understanding your pattern than for timing sex.

Also known as: BBT, temperature charting
