Cycle and ovulation
Ovulation happens roughly 24 to 36 hours after the LH surge, when the dominant follicle releases its egg into the fallopian tube. The egg can only be fertilised for about 12 to 24 hours, but sperm can survive several days, so the days before ovulation matter as much as the day itself.
