Fertility basics
A biochemical pregnancy is a pregnancy identified by rising hCG in blood or urine that ends before anything can be seen on ultrasound. It is also called a chemical pregnancy. These losses are common, more often detected now that home tests are sensitive, and are not usually a sign of a lasting problem — though repeated biochemical pregnancies are worth discussing with your specialist.
