Fertility basics
Clinical pregnancy rate counts pregnancies confirmed on scan, divided by a stated denominator such as embryo transfers or initiated cycles. It is always higher than the live birth rate for the same group because some clinical pregnancies end in miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. Treat it as an interim measure rather than the outcome you are planning for.
