Anatomy
The myometrium is the thick muscle layer surrounding the uterine cavity. Fibroids grow within it, and adenomyosis occurs when endometrial-type tissue is found inside it. Both can affect symptoms, implantation and pregnancy, and are assessed on ultrasound or MRI.
