Raised prolactin interferes with the pituitary signals that drive ovulation. Causes include pituitary adenomas, hypothyroidism, some antipsychotic and antinausea medicines, and stress at the time of the blood draw. Treatment is usually with a dopamine agonist prescribed and monitored by a physician.
