Prolactin test

High prolactin can stop or disrupt ovulation and sometimes causes milky nipple discharge or headaches. Stress, recent breast examination, some medicines and a benign pituitary adenoma can all raise it. A single high result is usually repeated before further investigation such as pituitary imaging.
