Testosterone therapy and fertility

Taking testosterone suppresses the body's own sperm production.

Male fertility

Prescribed testosterone, anabolic steroids and some 'testosterone boosters' shut down the pituitary signals that drive sperm production, and can cause azoospermia. Recovery after stopping usually takes months and is not guaranteed. Tell your clinician about any testosterone or steroid use — alternatives exist that preserve fertility.

Also known as: TRT, anabolic steroids, testosterone replacement
