Female fertility
Adenomyosis is where tissue similar to the womb lining is found inside the muscle of the uterus, which can make the womb bulky and tender and cause heavy, painful periods. It is usually identified on ultrasound or MRI. Its effect on fertility and implantation is still being studied; management before treatment is decided case by case with a specialist.
