Early-cycle hormone tests, usually taken between day 2 and day 5 of the period, typically include FSH, LH and oestradiol, and sometimes prolactin and TSH. Timing matters because these hormones change across the cycle, and a raised early FSH with low oestradiol suggests the ovaries are working harder to recruit follicles.
