A laparoscopy is keyhole surgery under general anaesthetic in which a camera is inserted through a small cut near the navel to view the womb, tubes and ovaries. It is the definitive way to diagnose endometriosis and adhesions, and treatment can often be carried out at the same time. Recovery usually takes a few days to a week.
