PGT-SR is used when one partner carries a structural rearrangement such as a balanced translocation or inversion. Carriers are usually healthy but can produce eggs or sperm with unbalanced chromosomes, causing failed implantation or miscarriage. Testing identifies embryos with a balanced or normal arrangement for transfer.
