An endometrial polyp is a soft, usually benign overgrowth of the lining that protrudes into the uterine cavity. Polyps can cause spotting between periods and may interfere with implantation. They are typically seen on saline infusion sonography or hysteroscopy, and removal is a short hysteroscopic procedure often arranged before embryo transfer.
