Cycle and ovulation
The luteal phase lasts around 12 to 14 days in most people and is more consistent in length than the follicular phase. Progesterone from the corpus luteum prepares the uterine lining for implantation. A consistently short luteal phase, under about 10 days, is sometimes investigated, although its significance is debated.
