Reproductive age

The years in which pregnancy is biologically possible.

Fertility basics

Reproductive age spans from the first period to menopause, but fertility is not constant across it. Egg numbers and egg quality decline gradually from the late twenties and more steeply from the mid-thirties, while sperm production continues into later life with a slower decline in quality. Reproductive age is a useful frame for planning, not a deadline.

Also known as: childbearing age, fertile years
