Stimulated IUI

IUI combined with ovulation-inducing medicines to encourage one or two follicles to mature.

IUI & ovulation treatment

Stimulated IUI (also called medicated IUI) combines intrauterine insemination with ovulation-inducing medicines, aiming to develop one or two mature follicles and improve the timing and chance of success compared with a natural cycle. Ultrasound monitoring tracks follicle growth, and a trigger injection or the natural LH surge is used to time ovulation before insemination. Because stimulation can occasionally lead to more follicles maturing than intended, careful monitoring is used to reduce the risk of a multiple pregnancy, and cycles may be cancelled or converted if too many follicles develop. The specific medicine and monitoring plan is decided by the treating clinician based on the individual's history and response; this entry does not describe dosing.

Also known as: medicated IUI
