Amenorrhoea

Absence of periods.

Menstrual cycle & ovulation

Amenorrhoea means no periods for several months in someone who previously had them (secondary) or periods not starting by the expected age (primary). Causes include pregnancy, low body weight, excessive exercise, PCOS, thyroid or prolactin problems and premature ovarian insufficiency, so it should be assessed.
