Fertility basics
Clinically, infertility usually means not becoming pregnant after 12 months of regular unprotected vaginal sex, although investigations may start earlier if you are 36 or over or a cause is already suspected. Infertility is common and is a medical condition, not a personal failing. It can involve one or both partners, or no cause may be found.
