Menstrual cycle

The monthly hormonal cycle that prepares an egg and the uterine lining.

Menstrual cycle & ovulation

A cycle is counted from the first day of one period to the day before the next. Typical cycles last about 21 to 35 days. It has a follicular phase, ovulation and a luteal phase, each controlled by hormones from the brain and ovaries.
