Dominant follicle

The follicle that grows largest and releases an egg in a natural cycle.

Menstrual cycle & ovulation

Each cycle several follicles start to grow, but usually only one becomes dominant and ovulates. In IVF, stimulation medicines aim to grow several follicles at once.
